Broad beans keep going well into November.
October is quiet on the balcony. The tomatoes are gone, pots stand half empty, and this is exactly the moment to sow once more.
At a glance
- Outside, until mid-November: broad beans
- Outside, until late October: spinach and baby kale
- Windowsill, any time: microgreens
Broad beans
Sow 5 cm deep, two seeds per pot. Read our guide to balcony compost first.
Tip: soak the beans overnight and they sprout days earlier.
