Guide · GoDaddy → Squarespace

GoDaddy Website Builder to Squarespace, without copy-paste

GoDaddy's Websites + Marketing builder has no export button, and Squarespace can't import from GoDaddy. The usual route is to rebuild every page and paste every blog post by hand.

Decamp reads your published GoDaddy site, including the full text of each blog post, and writes a WordPress-format export file. Squarespace imports that file directly, so your posts, pages and images arrive in one go.

Free inventory and 3-post preview. One payment per site when you download.

1. Export with Decamp

Paste your GoDaddy site address. The free inventory counts your blog posts and pages, and lists what can't move (store products, appointments, forms).

Paste the short verification code into any text block on your GoDaddy homepage and publish. Delete it after the check.

Check the free preview, pay once and pick “Squarespace” as the destination. Download the ZIP.

2. Import into Squarespace

In Squarespace: Settings → Import & Export → Import → WordPress → “Upload a file”, then select wordpress/wordpress-import.xml from the ZIP.

Squarespace creates a blog page with your posts and copies the images. Imported pages land in Not Linked; add the ones you want to your navigation and rebuild their layout with Squarespace sections.

Keep the GoDaddy site published until the import has finished, because Squarespace fetches the images from it.

3. Domain and URL mappings

GoDaddy blog posts live at /f/post-slug. Paste redirects/squarespace-url-mappings.txt into Settings → Developer tools → URL Mappings so those links and Google results land on the new posts.

You can keep your domain registered at GoDaddy and point its DNS at Squarespace (Squarespace walks you through the records), then cancel the Websites + Marketing plan.

Redirect files included: Squarespace URL Mappings · CSV. Old links and Google results keep working, and our free redirect checker confirms every one after the move.

Questions

Is my GoDaddy online store included?
No, products are counted but not exported. GoDaddy's commerce dashboard can export products as CSV, and Squarespace imports product CSVs.

Do I have to move my domain away from GoDaddy?
No. The domain registration can stay at GoDaddy; only the DNS records change to point at Squarespace.
