Weebly to WordPress, blog included

Weebly can't export to WordPress, and its site archive leaves the blog out: “Blog and store pages aren't included in the export as they rely directly on our database.” The usual workaround is the RSS feed, which only carries your latest posts, or copying everything by hand.

Decamp reads your published Weebly site and writes a standard WordPress export file (WXR). WordPress's own importer creates your posts with their original dates, your pages and your approved comments, and pulls every image into the media library.

Free inventory and 3-post preview. One payment per site when you download.

1. Export with Decamp

Paste your Weebly address. The free inventory counts posts in every blog on the site, your pages and what can't move.

Paste the short verification code into a Text element on your Weebly home page and publish. Delete it after the check.

Check the free preview, pay once and download the ZIP.

2. Import into WordPress

Tools → Import → WordPress → Run Importer (install it if asked). Upload the file from the wordpress/ folder of the ZIP.

Tick “Download and import file attachments”. WordPress copies each image into its media library and rewrites the posts, so nothing depends on Weebly afterwards.

Very large blogs come with the same file split into parts (wordpress/in-parts/) in case your host limits upload size.

3. Redirects, then close Weebly

Install the Redirection plugin and import redirects/wordpress-redirection-plugin.csv so old /blog/ links and Google results land on the right post.

Point your domain at the new host, check a few posts and images, and only then cancel your Weebly plan.

Redirect files included: Redirection plugin CSV · .htaccess · Nginx. Old links and Google results keep working, and our free redirect checker confirms every one after the move.

Questions

Does my Weebly design come across?
No export can do that. You get the content clean (text, headings, lists, images, YouTube and other video embeds, buttons as links), ready for a WordPress theme.

Are spam comments imported too?
Decamp imports the comments your site shows publicly, as approved comments. If some are spam, delete them in WordPress under Comments after the import.
