Weebly to Squarespace, blog included

Squarespace's importer reads WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr and a few others, not Weebly. And Weebly's own archive leaves the blog out: “Blog and store pages aren't included in the export as they rely directly on our database.” So most Weebly moves end with posts copied into Squarespace one at a time.

Decamp reads your published Weebly site and writes a WordPress-format export file, which Squarespace imports directly: every blog post with its date, your pages, and the images, plus a URL mappings file so old Weebly links land on the new pages.

Free inventory and 3-post preview. One payment per site when you download.

1. Export with Decamp

Paste your Weebly address (your own domain or name.weebly.com). The free inventory counts your blog posts and pages, and lists what can't move (store pages, forms).

Paste the short verification code into a Text element on your Weebly home page and publish. Delete it after the check.

Check the free preview, pay once and pick “Squarespace” as the destination, so links between your posts and the redirect file use Squarespace's /blog/slug URLs. Download the ZIP.

2. Import into Squarespace

In Squarespace: Settings → Import & Export → Import → WordPress. Choose “Upload a file” and select wordpress/wordpress-import.xml from the ZIP.

Squarespace creates a blog page with your posts and copies the images into your site. Imported pages go into the Not Linked section, so link the ones you want in your navigation.

Run the import while your Weebly site is still published, because Squarespace fetches the images from Weebly during the import.

3. URL mappings, then close Weebly

Settings → Developer tools → URL Mappings. Paste the contents of redirects/squarespace-url-mappings.txt; each line is already in Squarespace's “/old -> /new 301” format.

Connect your domain to Squarespace, check a few posts and images, and only then cancel your Weebly plan.

Redirect files included: Squarespace URL Mappings · CSV. Old links and Google results keep working, and our free redirect checker confirms every one after the move.

Questions

Does my Weebly design come across?
No export can do that. Your text, headings, lists, images and video embeds arrive, and you lay them out with Squarespace sections.

What about my Weebly store?
Products aren't part of the export. Squarespace has its own product CSV import for those.

My site is on Square Online, not classic Weebly.
Decamp supports classic Weebly sites. The free inventory tells you straight away if the site is Square Online, and nothing is charged.
