Wix to WordPress, posts and all

Most “Wix to WordPress” tutorials stop at the RSS feed, which since 2025 carries only links to your 20 newest posts. Then they tell you to copy the rest by hand.

Decamp writes a standard WordPress export file (WXR) from your Wix site: posts, pages, authors, categories, tags, featured images, every image as an attachment, and SEO titles and descriptions for Yoast and Rank Math. WordPress's own importer handles the rest. No plugin to trust with your login.

Free inventory and 3-post preview. One payment per site when you download.

1. Export your Wix site with Decamp

Paste your Wix address into Decamp. The free inventory lists how many posts, pages, images, categories and tags we found, plus anything that can't move (store products, bookings, forms).

Prove the site is yours by adding one meta tag in Wix (Pages → ⋯ → SEO basics → Advanced SEO → Additional tags) and publishing.

Check the free preview of your three newest posts, then pay once and pick “WordPress” as the destination. That sets the new URL pattern used for internal links and the redirect file.

Download the ZIP. Keep your Wix site live until the import below is finished.

2. Import into WordPress

In WordPress: Tools → Import → WordPress → Install Now → Run Importer, then upload wordpress/wordpress-import.xml.

Assign the authors (or create them), and tick “Download and import file attachments”. WordPress copies every image from Wix into your media library and rewrites the image links inside posts.

If a big import times out on shared hosting, run it again. The importer skips anything already imported.

3. Set permalinks and redirects

Settings → Permalinks → “Post name” gives /my-slug/ URLs. Pick the same pattern in Decamp before downloading so internal links match.

Install the free Redirection plugin and import redirects/wordpress-redirection-plugin.csv, or paste the htaccess file's lines into your .htaccess on Apache hosts.

Squarespace instead?

Squarespace imports the same file: Settings → Import & Export → Import → WordPress, then upload wordpress-import.xml. Posts land in a blog page, and redirects go in Settings → Advanced → URL Mappings (use redirects/redirects.csv).

Redirect files included: Redirection plugin CSV · .htaccess · Nginx · Squarespace URL mappings. Old Wix links and Google results keep working.

Questions

My host offers a free Wix migration. Why pay?
Those services rebuild a few pages by hand and usually stop there. If your blog has dozens or hundreds of posts, you want every post with its images, dates, categories and SEO intact. That's what the file does, in minutes.

Will my Wix design come across?
No tool can carry a Wix design into WordPress. Pick a WordPress theme. Your content drops into it.
