Guide · Squarespace export

Take your Squarespace site anywhere

Squarespace's built-in export makes a WordPress file. It covers one blog per export, skips most page types, and leaves the images pointing at Squarespace's servers. Moving to Webflow, Framer, Ghost or a static site gets you no file at all.

Decamp reads your published Squarespace site, every blog with full post content, categories, tags, authors and SEO descriptions, plus your pages, and produces files for each destination. Every image is downloaded, and a 301 map is included.

Free inventory and 3-post preview. One payment per site when you download.

1. Export with Decamp

Paste your site address. The free inventory counts posts and pages and lists what won't move (products, events).

Prove the site is yours: add the meta tag Decamp shows under Settings → Developer Tools → Code Injection → Header (or paste the code into a text block on your homepage), then save.

Check the free preview, pay once, choose the destination and download the ZIP.

2. Import

Webflow / Framer: import webflow-framer-csv/posts.csv into your CMS collection. Rich text and images come along.

Ghost: zip the contents of ghost/ and use Settings → Import/Export → Import content. Images upload into Ghost.

WordPress: Tools → Import → WordPress with wordpress/wordpress-import.xml, ticking “Download and import file attachments”. Every blog comes over in one file.

Astro, Hugo, Eleventy: markdown/ plus images/.

3. Redirects

Squarespace blog posts usually live at /blog/slug. The redirects/ folder maps every old URL to the new pattern for Webflow, Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare, Apache, Nginx or WordPress.

Redirect files included: Webflow 301s · Netlify / Vercel / Cloudflare · WordPress Redirection · Ghost redirects.yaml. Old Wix links and Google results keep working.

Questions

Why not use Squarespace's own export?
If you're moving to WordPress and have a single blog, it may be enough. Elsewhere, or with several blogs, images you want to keep, or pages, it falls short.

Do products or events export?
No. Squarespace can export products as CSV from Commerce → Inventory.
