Guide · Wix → Markdown

Export your Wix blog to Markdown

Static site generators want one Markdown file per post with front matter. Wix gives you nothing to start from. The usual DIY route is a Selenium scraper plus an afternoon of fixing broken formatting.

Decamp writes markdown/posts/<slug>.md for every post and markdown/pages/<slug>.md for every page. Front matter holds title, slug, date, updated, author, description, SEO title, cover image, categories, tags and the original URL. Images are downloaded into images/ and referenced as /images/…

Free inventory and 3-post preview. One payment per site when you download.

1. Export your Wix site with Decamp

Paste your Wix address into Decamp. The free inventory lists how many posts, pages, images, categories and tags we found, plus anything that can't move (store products, bookings, forms).

Prove the site is yours by adding one meta tag in Wix (Pages → ⋯ → SEO basics → Advanced SEO → Additional tags) and publishing.

Check the free preview of your three newest posts, then pay once and pick “Astro / Hugo / Eleventy” as the destination. That sets the new URL pattern used for internal links and the redirect file.

Download the ZIP. Keep your Wix site live until the import below is finished.

2. Drop it into your project

Astro: copy markdown/posts into src/content/blog and images/ into public/images. Add the front-matter fields to your content collection schema (date, description, cover, tags).

Hugo: copy posts into content/posts and images/ into static/images. Hugo reads title, date, tags and categories natively.

Eleventy / Jekyll: copy posts into your posts folder (Jekyll wants YYYY-MM-DD-slug.md names; rename with the date field) and images into your passthrough folder.

3. Redirects

Netlify and Cloudflare Pages: copy redirects/_redirects to your publish folder. Vercel: merge redirects/vercel.json into yours.

Redirect files included: Netlify / Cloudflare _redirects · vercel.json · Nginx · Apache. Old Wix links and Google results keep working.

Questions

Is the Markdown clean?
Yes. Content is converted from Wix's structured rich content rather than scraped from the page, so you get proper headings, lists, links, tables and images. Embeds and videos are kept as HTML, which Markdown allows.

Can I use it for Obsidian or Notion?
Obsidian reads the files as they are. Notion imports Markdown (Import → Text & Markdown), though it ignores front matter.
